tonight i wrote a massive scene in my WIP. not massive as in size- it's only a couple of pages long, but its very important scene and is very high in emotion.
I'm exhausted!
does anyone else get really "heavy" after writing something that you feel you've had to feel? like experience it is you are writing it?
OR!
am i doing something wrong? should I be more separated from the scene I am writing? am i getting too involved?
as you can tell, I've lost all sense of articulation right now, but any comments would be appreciated.
I feel exhausted too with those really major scenes that are completely necessary in the story. I feel like I've done quite a lot even though it isn't that long. A few pages are good, even important scenes can't run too long. I'm sure when you're editing, it can get longer. I think the exhaustion means that you've done it well, otherwise if writing it would be too easy, then it's probably something you've read before and are just rewriting it thinking it's your own idea. That happens to me often. I write a sentence that seems too cliché, and then I go back and try to make it seem less predictable. Hopefully I catch them all. Great job with the scene!
ReplyDeleteI think its good you are involved, so you create more real reactions to the plot developments. Keep up the good work!
ReplyDeleteCongratulations on writing your massive scene.
ReplyDeleteI get tired too! The days I don't sub, I write for three or four hours. When my husband asks about my day, and I tell him how tired I am, but can only mention about three non-writing things, he doesn't get it. I tell him writing is tiring, but he doesn't believe me.
no way! i think it's great that you get so involved. i mean it can take a toll on you if you get into it TOO deep, but the writing is only made more authentic by true emotion. if you can't feel what's happening in your story, you can't expect your readers to feel it either.
ReplyDeleteso bravo to you!
and congrats on your progress!!
thanks everyone for all your support! it's good to know others feel the same as I do.
ReplyDeleteThanks again! :)
